Understand the concept
A fractal repeats a construction at smaller scales. This generator draws finite stages: increasing the iteration count reveals more structure but also multiplies the drawing work. A curve, a filled set and a branching tree are different constructions.
What you can do
Choose classic curve, tree, Cantor, polygon and space-filling presets. Control iterations, orientation, colors and image dimensions; save the generated word when a rewrite grammar is used.
How to use
- Choose a family and start with a low iteration count. Use the example to restore a manageable drawing.
- Change size and colors, then generate. Ratio controls apply to trees and Cantor sets; angle applies to Cesàro and branching trees.
- Inspect the result and numeric report. Download SVG for editable vectors, PNG for a fixed image, or JSON to restore these settings later.
Limits and common errors
At most 12 iterations, 500,000 expanded symbols and 100,000 drawing primitives; dense families reach limits earlier. The picture is a finite approximation. Presets use the displayed primary construction, not every artistic variant.
Frosty motifs use thirds of each edge, with perpendicular spikes and optional45°bends; depth0 is the base. McWorter uses72°six-segment substitution on1/5/6/8edges. Open rotation turns each branch about its midpoint by0–45°and disables gap-closing fills. This is a defined construction, not an exact copy of every artistic variant.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a higher iteration fail?
Many families grow exponentially: a Koch edge has 4ⁿ segments. Lower the depth; making the output image smaller does not reduce the number of mathematical segments.
