Checkerboard areas indicate transparency. Previews fit the screen; downloads keep the displayed pixel dimensions.

Understand the task

Rotation changes image orientation. Quarter turns exchange width and height without resampling at fractional angles. Arbitrary angles need a larger bounding rectangle and interpolation. Flipping mirrors the image; it is separate from rotation.

What this tool does

Rotate by exact quarter turns or any angle, and flip horizontally or vertically.

How to use

  1. Choose image
  2. Choose a quarter turn or enter a clockwise angle. Enable horizontal or vertical mirroring if needed. Create a preview and inspect the expanded dimensions before downloading.
  3. Downloads re-encode pixels and remove source metadata. JPEG fills transparent areas with the selected background.

Limits and common errors

Mirroring is applied in source-image coordinates before rotation. Arbitrary angles add transparent corners for PNG/WebP; JPEG fills them with the background. Interpolation can soften edges.

Questions and answers

Why did the dimensions grow after rotation?

A tilted rectangle requires a larger axis-aligned canvas to keep all corners visible. For example, a non-square image rotated 45° needs more space. Use a crop afterward if you want a smaller rectangle.
