Random generators
How it works
A string is a sequence of characters; a byte is an integer from 0 to 255. Sixteen bytes shown as hexadecimal need 32 digits. Unicode characters may take several UTF-8 bytes. Custom string length counts graphemes, while Unicode range generation counts selected code points.
What you can do
Create batches from custom characters, printable ASCII, Unicode ranges or random bytes. Enter a raw regex without slash delimiters. Maximum 500 characters, 1000 results and 4096 characters per result. Negated classes and dot use printable ASCII; sampling is not uniform over all matching strings. Preview shows hex lines; the .bin download concatenates the actual bytes without separators.
How to use it
- Choose strings, bytes or Unicode. For strings choose a preset or paste a custom alphabet. Set the length and count; digit-pair mode always uses two digits. For bytes choose hex, Base64, decimal or binary. For Unicode enter hexadecimal bounds and a character filter.
- Review the result and notes, then copy or download. Editing any input clears the previous result.
Errors and limits
At most 4,096 units per item and 1,000,000 units in a batch. Unicode excludes surrogates and noncharacters; all-scalars mode may produce invisible controls. Custom duplicates are removed before sampling. Bytes are independent; no-replacement is available for strings and Unicode only.

Frequently asked questions
Is a random string the same as random bytes?
No. A 16-character hexadecimal string has 16 positions with 16 choices each. Sixteen random bytes have 256 choices per byte and appear as 32 hexadecimal digits. Use the byte mode when a protocol specifies a length in bytes.
Are inputs or generated values uploaded?
No. Generation runs in this browser tab. Inputs and results are not added to URLs, uploaded or stored between visits. Copying and downloading happen only when requested. Your browser clipboard and saved files can remain after you leave.
