How it works
International Morse code represents letters, digits and punctuation as short and long signals. A dot lasts one timing unit and a dash lasts three. Gaps within a letter last one unit; gaps between letters last three and between words seven.
Written Morse needs boundaries: ... --- ... is SOS, while an uninterrupted run can be ambiguous. Use a space between letters and / between words. The speed uses the standard PARIS word convention: one dot is 1.2 divided by WPM seconds.
What you can do
Translate A–Z, 0–9 and punctuation from the reference in either direction. Lowercase becomes uppercase and whitespace is collapsed. Decode ordinary dots/dashes or common typographic dot/dash variants. Play and WAV use the selected speed and pitch.
How to use it
- Choose Text → Morse or Morse → Text, then paste input or load the sample.
- Convert and resolve any error before export. For Morse input, separate letters with spaces and words with /. Unknown groups are never silently dropped.
- Set speed and pitch, then Play or download WAV. Stop ends playback. Copy/TXT works independently of audio; reuse switches translation direction.
Errors and limits
Chinese, emoji, accented letters and unlisted punctuation are unsupported and cause a positioned error. This tool does not guess, transliterate or discard them.
Playback and WAV are limited to 120 seconds to bound memory use. This is a written-code translator, not a microphone decoder, radio receiver or emergency communication service.
Frequently asked questions
What is SOS in Morse code?
The letters are 「... --- ...」. The continuous distress prosign is a distinct sending convention; this tool translates ordinary separated letters.
Can I decode Morse without spaces?
Not reliably. Several letter sequences can share the same continuous pattern. Supply the letter and word boundaries instead of relying on a guess.
